Houses do not discriminate when it comes to race, but many of the top houses have very high grade cuts. Having been I both sides of rush, I know this is true (at least for my house). What is your GPA? Weighted or unweighted? And how rigorous was your course work in high school? It all matters. And will you have any recs?

Okay so my weighted is a 3.4 and my unweightedis a 3.2. I've taken honors english as well as college credit english. I took IB Psych this year. I'm also in symphonic band and I'm actually gonna be in marching mizzou. I was involved in a nursing program and got my cna certification and college credit in that class. I have volunteer hours in the nursing home as well as tutoring hours for A+. I've done a couple clubs too...does that help me even with a low gpa?

Oh and I do have a few rec letters lined up so far. I know we should have an open mind but I really wanna be in Phi Mu!

You sound like a great candidate. Some houses might worry about your h.s. grades, but it looks as if you are a go-getter, and the volunteer hours will help, too. Work on getting more recs and be sure to give each person who writes a rec for you a copy of your resume to attach when they send in the rec. That's the best way for houses to find out more about you other than the bare minimum that is asked on the official PanHel form. And ALWAYS use your weighted gpa. If your class rank is good, use that, too, but not if it is below the top 20% of your class.
