Is it better to be independent or be in a lower tier sorority? I've heard from my college friends that being in a lower tier is social suicide. Just trying to get prepared for rush!

It's so much better to be in a house than not coming from someone who went through cob. You'll be in the house with girls most similar to you so just let the system work itself out

As a girl in a lower-tier sorority, I would not change where I am no matter what. Considering the fact that I have hooked up with guys in top-tier frats, I can honestly say if that's what you're worried about, guys do not care what house you're in. Every house offers something different. Personally I think that because my house is considered "lower-tier" our sisterhood is stronger because of it. My biggest pet peeve is fake people and in my house since there is no expectation to be perfect, everyone is super real and I love it. You may be looking to be in a house that is considered "hot" and thats ok too, but don't judge a house based off its reputation because if you keep an open mind you'll be pleasantly surprised.

To the OP: No one can make that decision for you . If you want to be greek, be greek. If you don't, skip rush. If you skip rush and regret it, pledge as a sophomore. If you join a house and don't like it, quit. But don't expect anyone else to make these decisions for you.
