Will most top houses cut people under a 3.5 GPA? I have just under a 3.5 and am worried that will be my reason to be cut from the houses I am looking at.

It depends on what you consider a top house. PiPhi and XO will cut someone coming in with a 3.5 high school GPA, but TriDelt probably won't. There also are some people who think GPhi is a top house and I'm not sure they have any grade cuts at all over and above what PanHell recommends. But if you want to get into a house that has academic standards, a 3.5 is pretty borderline.

Lol, the gphi hater sneaks her comments in again..to the op, I assure you, based on the current outlook of the upcoming recruitment, it is extremely unlikely that ANY house will cut you based on your gpa. And to the above poster, this past year both PiPhi and XO took girls with as low as a 3.1 gpa(I'm sure there some even lower, but those are absolutely confirmed). Don't believe the bs you read on this site-top houses, top grades, etc...panhell has criteria and based upon that criteria you are beyond fine. Best of luck-enjoy the experience and go with what you feel most comfortable with and don't let this site influence your decision! Mizzou has an amazing greek life!

Most (not all) houses have grade cuts, but many are simply the GPA recommended by PanHel in order to go through rush. The more selective houses have GPA requirements of 3.5 or higher, unless a girl is taken as a grade risk. Yes, some of the top houses take girls with less than a 3.3, but you can count them on one hand, whereas the less selective houses have many girls whose high school GPA hovered around a 3.0. And if you make it into a house as a grade risk, Lord help you. the study requirements are outrageous, you must report the grades of every test you take and you must report regularly to the scholarship chair. It's not easy.

@the facts...are you KIDDING ME? please, you clearly are not from Missouri, more specifically the st Louis ares. There are TONS of girls taken in CHIO, PIPHI, DELTA AND YES, EVEN THETA with less than a 3.0....c'mon girl, if you are putting this stuff on this website you are clearly NOT from Missouri-connections have more to do than grades-EVERYONE KNOWS THAT. GPHI, ADPI AND kappa know that it has more to do with out of state people than grades. anyone reading this site and planning to rush-lol, the 'tiers' this site has put up(chio, delta, theta, pi phi) are so far from what this campus considers top tier..go with a house that holds you accountable to grades, volunteering and socializing with other greek houses and university clubs!

seriously? do top houses actually ask you every test score? is it that intense that every assignment and test are critiqued by your house? but just wondering, that is only top houses with grades? I heard it was pretty intense but not like that-I have really top grades at my school but I don't have to report to anyone and im still active in other things. it's good to hear, I guess that 'top houses' keep a strict tab on your grades. I know people say some houses are not social, but is that why? because of grades?

^^^^ You won't make it into a top house unless you work on your reading comprehension. You only have to report test scores if you were taken as a grade risk, which is exactly what that post says. And nice try painting houses with good grades as not being social, but you couldn't be more wrong. How about this: come to this school, go through recruitment, join a top house, make grades and see just how amazingly multi-faceted your sisters are. THEN, and only then, should you pass judgment.

Weighted or unweighted? At my high school a weighted GPA of 3.5 wouldn't even get you in the top half of my graduating class so, no, my sorority wouldn't take someone like that.
