housing woes

by:

There are another two dorms now unavailable for 2016-i can only assume because of low freshman enrollment. Both discovery and respect are 'temporarily unavailable'. This after two additional older dorms were closed a month ago. This does not bode well for the growth of the university.

Lol how??? What's the point of posting this? Current students already knew and this is a website for GREEK LIFE. I know we all don't agree on which houses are good but can we at least come together over supporting our university instead of trying to make it look bad.

I have no idea why they are "unavailable," but I can tell you that because of demographics and a strong economy there are very few universities that are growing. Sorry, but with millennials all but having finished college, the succeeding generation (children of GenX, which was a very small generation) is much smaller. I know you love to blame this on the fall protests, but we are sick of hearing your speculation and misinformation. We get it. You don't think minorities should ever open their mouths. But it's time for YOU to STFU.

To Actually. GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE SAND! Our very own interim chancellor, who is a minority, blames the declining enrollment on the events of this past fall. Come on, really, you clearly are just saying this to start a debate. No one, in their right mind, is still defending the protests of the fall. Even two of the organizers have publicly stated they no longer support, and recognize the fact that the initial protests went in an entirely different direction than what it was originally intended for. And while you are on your delusional defense-go ahead and explain why, for the first time in Missouri history, the University of Missouri has seen such a dramatic decline in enrollment while Missouri State has seen it's biggest increase. Lol, but to the original poster, yes, it is alarming and disappointing to see yet another 2 dorms closing. Hopefully the new effort to attract future students is successful-I can't imagine that the opinion of the above troll will go much further than her own little circle.

Look At how many contracts are still available for housing! Almost 2400, so that means enrollment is down that many at least just for freshmen. My year there was a waiting list at this time.

wow, 2400 contracts still available is a pretty scary thought-as you said, most years there is a wait list by this time that usually lasts through move in day.
and to the above person with the link, typing her post at 1228 am and then attaching a link 2 minutes later, an outdated link at that, tells you the intelligence level you are dealing with. without a doubt there is a direct correlation between this falls enrollment and the events of fall 2015. no one even debates that anymore.

"Head in the sand girl" keeps saying college enrollment I down everywhere but it's not true. UNC Chapel Hill has had an increase in applications for thirteen years in a row. University of Texas applications are up. UAB applications are up. So are Auburn and many many others. You're an idiot if you don't see how bad things are here and how much worse it's going to get.

If you are a freaking idiot and trying to justify what has happened at Mizou you are freaking out of your mind. UNC, Chappel Hill_are you even comparing mizzou to them? they do NOT draw the same kids, seriously, the campuses have nothing in common except for random kids just reaching out to their safe and stretch schools..omg cs2015 go away. I KNOW FOR A FACT you have one person pa'trolling' this board. don't even try to justify in any way y our residence halls are closing and struggling. and why mizzous signature figs might just have to let it got for a few years. please, go talk to payton head or Jonathon butler, they know at this point if mizzou doesn't get their act together(and not looking like they will) they have not clarifies how out of control the protest got and how it DOES NOT signify MIZZOu

You're right that Mizzou doesn't compare to UNC or those other schools. We are WAY worse academically.

Honestly, I think the reply to this thread was one drunken girl from 'the group'. sadly, innocent people are stationed to defend anything that might be deemed derogatory to the original protest group(butler asked we no longer identify them as cs1950). it's time fo this university to pull together and rise above the unethical untruths that a few, that knew their media pull, tried to achieve. lets go back to one mizzou-the current protesters did not even have any idea what that stood for. and that was when this university made a change and voted 74 percent of their elected commities to minorities-all to show support. and now, look what TWO pathetic people who thought they were the next martin luther king chose to do..
