enrollment
by: SadI read an article that said that enrollment for Fall 2016 is turning out to be even worse than projected...and that was when they said applications were down 14%. Our acceptance rate will go from 80% (which is embarrassing already) to close to 90%. We're going to lose any credibility we had as a University.

I never saw that stat. Last I read was 25% decline with $32M budget cut to the system and $8M directly to Mizzou.
I'm out of state and region but like the area. I was accepted but not even responding now. Took visits to Iowa, Nebraska, Mizzou, Arkansas and Kansas since last summer. Also looked at a few in my area in prior years. One last trip to Bama and Florida State. Loved Mizzou last Fall before all this happened but now Iowa is my choice so far.
I hope it works out for all there but I don't want to deal with the sensitivity classes and eggshells I would have to walk on there. I will have enough problems as an incoming freshman. Great campus Tigers. Keep your head up.

To date Mizzou has been immune from dropping enrollment nationwide. But demographics (a reduced number of births vis a vis the earlier millennials) and an improving economy in which young people are getting jobs instead of going to school as they did when jobs were not available during the recession is in part to blame for university and college enrollment falling 6% nationwide in the last four years. There are people on this web site who want to blame the decline entirely on the fall protests, but that is a huge simplification. You should attend this university if it has a strong program in your major. You should not attend if you want to stay in your comfort zone and continue to ignore the needs and rights of others. But most of all you shouldn't believe people who don't know what they are talking about.
