Not really related to Greek but I guess it could be.... Actives, what advice would you give to an incoming freshman in general about college life at UA?

College is what you make of it. If you sit in your dorm room all day every day and never get out and do anything, you will hate it and not make any friends--even if you join a sorority. When you first join a sorority, all the girls in your pledge class will be looking for new friends and up for anything, but that immediate connection of joining a sorority together will go away if you don't try to connect with them beyond that. Go hang out at your new house and try to interact with other girls as much as you can in the beginning! If you don't put in any effort, you won't get anything out. Most of the girls who don't try will end up dropping or going inactive in a year or two because they didn't make any real friends. Most of college is like that, too. If you try in class, you'll make good grades (more than likely).
Get involved with things that will help you in the long run (college democrats/republicans, the crimson white, sga, etc). It's easier to get involved as a freshman than it is as an upperclassmen because you'll have an easier work load.
Do not take 16-18 hours your first semester of freshman year. I don't care what your advisor tells you--it's not a good idea. College is totally different than high school, and you'll need time to adjust. If you're joining a sorority, your first few weeks will be so busy that you will barely have time to breathe so if you're taking 16-18 hours you're going to be stressed beyond belief.
