If the tell you to wear a dress, wear a dress. Don't try to be a special snowflake and wear a romper/skirt because it doesn't make you look special, it just makes you look like you can't follow the rules.

I don't know why everyone here is being so rude. Yes, you can wear a conservative length skirt and nice top. I did and I got invited back to my top choice house for pref. As long as you look nice and put together (like no crop tops and high waisted maxi skirts, no miniskirts) then we will be caring about how you fit with us, not what you're wearing.
