For the top three, I would say it is 3.75 for "fliers" and 3.25 for "connected". Unless you are a known commodity, you need to contribute upward points to the house average. So, go look at their house average over the past few years and that will set a level that a non-connected girl will need to beat.
Then again, I speak from a few years ago. Not past four. So assume things have not changed dramatically.

I agree with @alum in general. A 3.9 with a 31 is very strong and you should be in good shape to go far in the process with several strong houses -- so long as your social and other attributes show through during Recruitment. Don't count on your resume. Think of it this way -- you want to go where they want you and where you fit. Once they see that 3.9 and a 31, it could seal the deal with some of the more competitive houses.
