sorority loans

by: Help

Hi, I am a sophomore in a sorority here. This past year my dad lost his job which was a big part of our income. I've talked to my financial advisor for the sorority and there is nothing that they can do for me, but my sorority is so important to me and I don't want to drop out. I've heard of girls taking out loans for their sorority... What lenders do you use? I would only need a loan for two semesters of the money and we should be back on our feet again. Please help! No hate comments please. Also my parents are anxious about co signing a loan so I would need a way to get the money on my own.

My parents refused to give me money for a sorority but it was super important to me so I take out the extra money as a part of my student loan. I'm paying them back so to me it was way worth it

Your sorority friends are still going to be your friends even if you aren't active for one semester. Why not go inactive for a semester and get a part time job and save money and be active again in the spring? Yeah, you might not be able to eat at the house every single day or go to every single date party, but your friends are still going to be your friends even if you don't go to the house every day. If they don't hang out with you just because of that, they aren't really your friends. I honestly just don't think being $8000+ in debt when you graduate from college is a good idea--you may struggle to get a job and that debt will just increase the longer you put off paying it. I would just advise thinking long and hard about it before you sign anything because yes, it's great that your sorority is important to you, but your financial stability is more important than being able to eat at the house.
