act
by: Future Alabama GirlI'm going to Alabama next year and will be a freshman from out of state.. My GPA is fine (3.7) but I have a low ACT (20).. how much does this hurt my recruitment?

As an active in an old row house who went into recruitment with a high GPA and low ACT score, I can honestly say that I do not feel my ACT score had any bearing on my recruitment. As a rising junior, I can also say it has had no bearing on my academic performance at Bama, as I have been on the Dean's List each semester here.

If it comes down to giving you a bid or another girl with equal grades and attributes, they might come down on the side of the higher GPA.
That there would only be a very slim chance of that happening.
UA has a program to admit students with acceptable GPAs but unusually low ACT scores. it's part of the school's public education mission.
Four years later, the weak students failed out long ago and the good students, regardless of ACT score, are graduating.
#10by: What?
20 ACT?
Relax.
I just saw a panhellenic packet on a girl with a 17 ACT and pretty fair grades.
To the UA haters: UA has a special admission program for kids with low ACTs.
Some kids don't test well.
Some kids can overcome by working really hard on their grades.
As long as they can earn a diploma, so what?
