how rush works

This may be stupid but I'm kind of confused on how exactly rush works. So I know that after the first round we can attend up to 12 parties. So do we rank all of the sororities in a list and we can go to our top 12 that invite us back? So if say we ranked XYZ as our number 2 and they dropped us we would then go to whatever sorority we ranked as our number 13? Or do we just rank 12 sororities and if none of those 12 ask us back we're dropped?

Yup you've got it! You list the 12 you'd like to come back to, but if any of those 12 don't extend you an invite for any reason, then you'll go to your 13th favorite house. It is very very common to go to your 13th, 14th, 15th favorite house after the first round!
