want to join sorority, but i'm from the north?

Hi everyone,
I'm currently in high school and I have recently been looking at colleges. University of Alabama really caught my eye when I saw how spirited they were and I have been interested ever since! However, I'm from the North (Maryland) and I'm nervous I won't know people that could write me recommendations. I am motivated to be in a sorority to meet new people and have a group of really good friends. My dad was in Pi Kappa Alpha at PITT and told me it was the most fun he has ever had! I still have around a year to look at colleges, but will be applying shortly after that. If anyone was wondering, I have a 3.5 GPA. So can anyone help give me advice as to what I should do, or are sororities at 'Bama motivated only by legacy? Thank you so much!

I am from Maryland as well and I had a great rush this past year! I do recommend getting letters of recs because they do really help you especially if you don't have many connections with current actives. Also, your 3.5 will really help you. Good luck girl and don't stress!
