by: opinions? pnmsome of the top sororities (and even frats) here aren't that strong nationally, do people not consider that when rushing because they never plan on leaving alabama? at a lot of the other schools i considered what you guys call new row houses are more popular and they seem pretty strong nationally. now this doesn't mean that they should be top here, i know every chapter at every school is different but it seems like houses with strong nationals, even if they're bottom, would have some appeal just because of the networking and stuff. does that stuff not matter?

I would rather find a place that I feel the most comfortable in during my time at Alabama, than go for a sorority who is strong nationally. Being a sorority woman gives you connections in itself. If I'm going to ask my parents to pay thousands of dollars a semester, I don't want to be miserable because I may move in the future.

I don't see it as an either / or situation. I think there are many possibilities. If you have several where you think you'll be happy, choose the one with the best national reputation. Girls from outside of Alabama often drop houses like Alpha Gam, KD, and Phi Mu because they are very weak outside of the South.

even a sorority that isn't considered as "strong" nationally will have a network of thousands and thousands of alums..graduates move all over the country or will be part of companies that have multiple national and international houses. If you are looking to join a sorority just for networking then you're better off joining an honors fraternity or some other sort of club. Find the perfect place for you at YOUR school and it will be so worth it.

This has to be a troll. Kappa delta is the 5th largest sorority in the country. They are very strong nationally. Alpha game and phi mu are not as strong nationally but they are at alabama and isn't that all that matters if you are rushing here. Pm's remember ALL SORORITIES HAVE WE AK CHAPTERS. Just look at kappa at Auburn horror show. This thread is weak

those houses have a large national web of successful alumnae. Alpha Gam isn't really a Southern sorority, they're more like EK and AZD who are strong here and there around the country but not regionally dominate anywhere.
