What exactly is "old" and new "row"? I'm not judging next year at all for the sororities but just wondering why is there a difference?

Old row means houses that have been on campus long time and historically got the upper crust of a segregated college community and new row came post war and have not as much old school connections. Now the distinction is just a way to describe clusters of houses and to reinforce historical reputations From viewpoint of Alabama kids that have these concepts re relative social status brainwashed into them

Necessarily. Some of the new row houses were on campus before some of the old row houses.

Some sororities on new row were on old row to begin with. It is actually a very stupid thing that employers do not care about so you should not care about it either! It is irrelevant in the long run, I promise.
