sorority comments

Pi beta phi is not on probation. What happened was that somebody made a comment that they were on probation to justify their 1s.

For those PNMs that are interested please find listed below the academic standings of all of the sororities as of Fall 2008. The Chapters' GPA's are as follows:
1). Alpha Chi Omega 3.33
Phi Mu 3.33 Tied for first
2). Chi Omega 3.30
3). Alpha Gamma Delta 3.27
4). Delta Delta Delta 3.25
5). Alpha Delta Pi 3.24
Kappa Delta 3.24 Tied for fifth
6). Alpha Omicron Pi 3.23
Pi Beta Phi 3.23 Tied for six
7). Delta Zeta 3.14
8). Kappa Kappa Gamma 3.10
9). Zeta Tau Alpha 3.04
10).Kappa Alpha Theta 3.01
11).Alpha Phi 2.88
12). Gamma Phi Beta 2.86

All but two sororities have above a 3.0 which is very good and well above the campus average.

That means there is a 0.45 span here. In my opinion not that big of a deal for a group, anyway. It is a big deal if you are trying to get into Law or Med school- You would want that 4.0. A 3.0 is not the end of the world, especially for a large group of freshman- GPAs tend to increase with upperclassmen.

Girls should go into rush with no bias based on BS they may have heard from people back home or girls who pledged in prior years. All the sororities really are very even and anyone that tells you different is lying.

I really hope the Greek system at UA isn't really all of this bashing of each other. Honestly, this is embarrassing to the whole Greek community. With sorority recruitment right around the corner, you would think that our girls would start showing more class towards each other and stop bashing one another. Every sorority has strengths and weaknesses, but we need to start focusing more on the strengths of each house.

"Rush" is so right. You need to have an open mind to ALL sororities; otherwise, you just won't find the perfect one FOR YOU. It's all about your choice. Period.

Thanks for posting all of the houses GPA's on page two of this discussion page. That was very interesting and helpful. It appears that being in a sorority promotes and encourages good grades.

All the bickering on here needs to stop. All of the sororities here are great. If you took any sorority at UA and put it on another campus, that sorority would be the best there. However, every sorority has problems, but you can't focus on just a few girls in a group.
