I'm an active and I don't recall any African American females being in recruitment during my year although I should probably ask around to confirm that and I don't recall any from last year and I do believe there HAS been a biracial girl in the past, but as of recently, there are no African-Americans in any of the sororities. There are a couple in the fraternities, but none in the sororities.
I WILL SAY though, although I'm an active and considered to be in an old row house, we've never discussed race because none of my sisters find it to be an issue. Don't let it discourage you!
Speaking from history, there haven't been any to receive bids, but don't let that discourage you!
Honestly, I don't want pnms on here getting the wrong idea.
YES, recruitment is competitive and it can be very draining. Stick it out till the end and keep an open mind and you could very well find a home.

Why does it matter what the stereotypes are?
If you think you're going to "cut" them during recruitment, that's not going to happen. An attitude that shows lack of interest will get around to the rest of the houses. If you automatically crossed one off of the list mentally, you're crossing off more than just 1.
Don't think for a second that recruitment is in your hands, because that's not the case. Stereotypes don't matter.
What should matter is that it's a privilege to be a member of the sororities and fraternities here. The Greek community is quite close and tight knit and THAT is the stereotype of Alabama.
And we're proud that our recruitment is large and competitive.
"stereotypes" are always based on personal opinion.
