Good God! I'm from the South, but referring to people as "Yankees" just reinforces the stereotype that we're all Rednecks!! The Civil War ended a loooonnnggg time ago!

"yankee" is just referring to anyone who isn't from the south. I used it just to simplify what I'm saying to avoid confusion.

I shouldn't have long drawn out sentences just to avoid the term yankee.

And I've northern friends who always refer to themselves as yankees, because they don't want to be associated with the south; and this is friends who live back home where I'm from and here in Alabama.

no I'm just saying that when you use the word "yankee", you have us confused. Do you mean the baseball team? Because why would a professional baseball team join a sorority unless they were the Minnesota Twins who actually have lady parts? Please be more clear in the future, because everyone else I talked to is sorely confused by your poorly researched observational analysis and/or methodology.

It's not rocket science and if you have to discuss this non issue with other people, then clearly you take this site all too seriously

You're obviously misconstruing my words to create a debate totally irrelevant to the topic at hand. If you aren't going to discuss sorority recruitment, then bye.

If you're offended by my posts, I quite frankly don't care.

I wasn't addressing you anyhow.

"The Old Row sororities are the oldest sororities at Alabama."

Not exactly. ADPi, ZTA, and DZ are older than several Old Row houses. Just goes to show that Old Row/New Row is a silly distinction, and one that matters only to people who are obsessed with family wealth and social standing.

Every sorority has different policies, but expect heavy cuts. Usually no recommendations and low gpas are the first to go.

PLEASE, try to get at least 1 per house! I know I didn't even know where to begin when it came to recommendations but spread the word. As friends, other family members, your parents, church members and former teachers if possible.

A recommendation helps us know a bit about y'all when you visit our houses during rush and when we chat with you.
And have fun during rush ;)

Are African American girls EVER given a bid to Panhellenic sororities at Bama? (assuming they have good grades, strong activities, are attractive, articulate, etc.)
