UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA: HOME TO THE REPUBLICANS AND FUTURE PROUD KLU KLUX KLAN MEMBERS.
YOU ARE ALL UNWORTHY OF LIVING IN AMERICA. THIS IS WHY NO ONE IN POLITICS CAN TAKE ANYONE IN THE SOUTH SERIOUSLY, BECAUSE ALL OF YOUR OPINIONS ARE BASED OFF OF RACISM, SELFISHNESS, AND RELIGION.

I'm definitely going in with an open mind but I know nothing about Greek Life at U of A an just wanted to see if someone from out of state especially the north has a chance at getting a bid at some of the more well known houses. I like to have fun and consider myself a quality rushee but I'm just not from the South. Thanks for the feedback

Get recommendations in. Most houses cannot and will not invite you back without at least 1; get recommendations sent out. You might think it's silly for anyone to stress over recs, but again, these girls who receive bids are often having recommendations sent from some of the most prominent sorority alumnae who've known them their whole lives.Recs are NOT an option in the south.
If you were serious about recruitment, you probably would have gone to the Preview Weekend and would have already registered. But you need to register NOW and begin sending out recommendations.
You're going up against almost 2000 PNM's who consider themselves quality rush, so don't let anything get to your head.
And YES, the culture of Alabamas sororities are mostly white--it's a social thing. However, few non white PNMs have gone through recruitment, so changes can't occur when no one is willing to take the risk.
Again, not trying to be negative, but SEC rush is BIG

I also want to add that alot of it has to do with the culture and social orders of the south.
It's not racism and there is no race war occurring in the south. However, the sororities and fraternities at bama are "traditionally white" and because of alumnae, it tends to stay that way. It isn't intentional and they try to push for some diversity, but only so much can be done if no one is willing to take initiative
