PLEASE PLEASE stop trying to make girls feel like some sororities are not good because they're not as highly ranked on your list. People quit recruitment because of this type of disappointment. Please stop telling them to ignore subjective rankings (do you mean they shouldn't go with their gut feelings?). PLEASE stop. You are soooooo negative to sororities at Bama. Everyone is good. So PLEASE STOP!

As a greduate with a child going thru rush I am embarrassed by the poor job I feel Panhellinic and UA is doing with the process and the preparation of children during their first week on campus to be treated like they are...driven to beleive they are not good enough..and ready to depart UA before they ever go to class the parents footing the bill. We paid for the panhellinic weekend and while it was nice..it was not real informative. Also, it is too late to tell a child when she is in the last month of high school that she needs a 3.0 to be elite enough to get in a sorority at Bama. We all know that high school gpas translate little to college performance...and also know that this is a poor judge of character, work ethic, etc..when some kids are taking much harder cirriculums...and there are extenuating circumstances. I have been a loyal Bama grad for 30 years and I am seriously considering doing what I hear other alumni doing..sending their kids to other schools ..and their money also

Welcome to the real world. PS You and your daughter should have cared more about her grades regardless of what sororities require.

First, those are not the current grade rankings. It makes me a little suspicious that you keep posting them.
Second, to the lady embarrassed by Bama. All the sororities at Bama are good. Even if your daughter doesn't match up with an "elite" one, she can still have a wonderful 4 years in a great house, even if it is not at the top of your list. All the houses have all kinds of girls, with all kinds of family incomes, grades, status, activities, body sizes, etc. If you make her feel embarrassed because she was cut by some of the houses, you will be doing her a great disservice. Encourage her to join the sorority she likes best out of the ones that like her. She will find wonderful friends wherever she goes.

Good grades have always been a requirement to join. It's not news.
