what do sorority houses look for?
by: futurebamaI'll be rushing next fall as a freshman and I want to be as prepared as possible. I have a 4.7 GPA. I play varsity sports and my dad is a doctor. I'm from the south and I'm a legacy. I just want to know if any of those things will help my chances of getting into a sorority, or what to expect in general. Also I'm aware of the racial controversy that has historically gone on at Bama and I'm only 3/4 white, so will that be a set back for me?

sounds like you'll be fine! That gpa will definitely set you apart. And as a member of an old row sorority that cuts pretty heavily I can say that you have no need to worry about the race issue. Lately most sororities want to diversify so the fact that you're 1/4 black could even be an advantage. Good luck with rush and just be sure to get your recs!
