I'm from the Pacific Northwest... About as far from Alabama as you can get. I've applied and am fairly sure I'll be accepted. Is it worth rushing? I have good grades and test scores and I've been involved in high school- cheerleader, volunteering, etc. Is that enough to be get a bid, or will most houses write me off since I'm not southern? I can get rec letters, but probably not from alums of UA.

should be fine. Just get your recs in on time and rush with an open mind. You'd be surprised with who you fit in with and who you don't. I wish nothing but the best of liuck for you!!!
