Southern Royalty really just is the houses that are powerhouses in the South.

Southern Royalty :

Queens : XO
Princesses: KD, ZTA, PhiMu
Duchesses: DDD, DZ, KKG, AOPi, ADPi (DDD is the strongest Duchesses)

These houses may be the best at Alabama but at most universities a lot of them are really bad. XO, DDD, and KKG are usually good. KD, ZTA, PM, DZ, AOII, and ADP are usually real stinkers.

Apart from KD being a stinker, this is actually very accurate. DZ, AOPi and ADPi are NOT strong in the South. Maybe nationally, but in the south they are generally not good.

That's not true. Every sorority, every one of them, has top chapters and bottom of the bottom chapters. XO and KKG have many chapters around the country that are mediocre or in the bottom tier. You people should get out and about more. See the world.

No. The Huffington Post did it's own ranking in 2012 and the ranking was:
1) Phi Mu
2) Gamma Phi
3) AXO
4) DZ
5) Theta

Those are some weird rankings because Phi Mu is NOT strong nationally. They’re non existent at lots of midwestern, northern, and west coast schools, and if they are there, they’re bottom. Theta I agree is very strong nationally, and Alpha Chi and Gamma Phi are decently strong nationally. DZ is also not that strong and where I live (west coast), it’s hard to find and usually bottom (with the exception of asu).

Let's go state-by-state in order to mitigate the confusion. I'm from Texas, and from what I know,

Queens: PKT (which from your list, includes only Kappa)
Princesses: DDD, XO, Zeta (in that order)
Duchesses: KD, ADPi
Scullery Maids (aka - do we even have them here?): Phi Mu, DZ, AOPi

In Texas, XO is known to be PKT wannabes, and they always have a chip on their shoulder (except for TCU). DDD usually has girls who are pretty, smart, and accomplished. Zeta has the same reputation in Texas as they do here in Alabama - hot and dumb. They're top tier at TCU and A&M though (there, they're known as hot but not-quite-as-dumb). KD/ADPi are seen as solid sororities, usually lower mid or upper bottom. And I can't think of a chapter of Phi Mu, DZ, or AOPi.

Uhhhh, GPhi is NOT excellent in Texas. It's only good at TCU. They don't even have a chapter at UT. They are very much unknowns in Texas.

PKT is like KD here, but on steroids. You need to have gone to the "right" camps, gone to the "right" high schools, and be able to talk at length about minimum, half a dozen influential family members for you to be able to get a bid.

I'm from Ohio and in Greek life at Bama and AOPi is NOT strong nationally. They are literally the bottom of the bottom in every school in Ohio and the bordering stayes

Are going to say queens of the South it's chio kd and ddd. Chio is NOT stronger than those two sororities in the south. I would even say KD may be stronger overall than chio. They are strong at every sec school. Kkg is not as strong as those three and neither is zeta except at a few schools. Truthfully the south has the strongest sorority system in the us so I think it is really saying something to be strong in the south.
