question
by: Jessie'sMomHi Everyone! My daughter went through Rush and was cut by her favorite houses, so she dropped out. Someone from our hometown is the President of one of the houses she liked so much. I can't believe she let my daughter get dropped! You would think the President would have more influence than that. Is there a way to appeal their decision? My daughter is amazing - smart, pretty, athletic, etc.

I am hoping that your daughter's name is not Jessie, because it will be fairly easy to find out who she is. If she is interested in Greek life, Panhellenic will have a sign up for Continuous Open Bidding. Have HER call the Office of Greek Life to find out the details. DO NOT call national headquarters. Membership selection is private and they are not going to give you any information.
It is not impossible to go through recruitment as an upperclassman. If she gets involved on campus, makes good grades and has good friends involved in Greek life it is possible to have a successful recruitment.
One last thing, you can not hold the chapter president responsible for your daughter's rush. The chapter makes these decisions, not just one person.
