Snap Bids are bids extended to PNMs who have been cross-cut or otherwise eliminated from formal recruitment and a house has not reached quota. A PNM is NOT eligible for a snap bid if she suicide bidded or if she did something else to minimize her options (This is why your Rho Chi stresses that you always maximize your options). Snaps are usually decided almost immediately after bid matching. In this case, someone from the chapter will contact you and ask you if you want to join their new member class and you can either say yes or no.

What if you aren't happy with the house you get a bid from? Can you still receive a snap bid?

No. Snap bids are only extended to girls who would have otherwise not received a bid at all. Plus, snaps are given out before you will have even opened your bid card so you would have no way of knowing you wouldn't be happy with your bid.

If you don't like your bid, you can always decline your bid and rush again next fall, but that's about the only thing you can do.

Don't accept a bid , drop and rush again. Nobody wants a girl who is a do-over. If you are unhappy with ALL your choices then go to pref and decide and put down only those that you are willing to accept. Never ever count on COB snap bids or rushing again as a viable option.

you are tied to that sorority for a year. Even if you don't attend bid day, or drop out before you are initiated, if you stay here, you cannot rush until next formal recruitment. If you initiate, you cannot join another sorority, even if you drop your membership.

Why are you desperate for a house that cut you? It doesn't make sense. Do you want to be the girl that was chosen to meet quota? Everyone in the house (and many outside the house) knows who the snap bids are. Why would you want to be that girl when you could be with a house that wants you. I don't get it.
