This is the list of houses that allowed panhel to publish their names. Houses can decline to be listed.

Guess who that is.

We can all read so no need to guess, also no need to try to insinuate there's an issue because they are choosing not to participate.

It depends if a sorority wants to participate in COB. Some nationals have a say others the exec does depends on sorority. Some houses like their lower numbers so they don't want to participate. Sometimes houses with high retention are eligible because they lose more seniors than other houses. So a COB list doesn't mean much unless you see the mathematics behind it and understand their nationals. If someone has the time to start doing calculations - I feel incredibly badly for them and they need to find a new hobby.

I heard PiPhi did COB in the fall, despite taking their name off the list. They COBed a few girls right after bid day. And this semester, they asked Panhellenic not to list them, even though once again, they were eligible.

The grade report will be released soon and will show which houses added new members via COB. You can look at the spring report from 2023 (and all other previous semesters)on the site now and it shows COB under the new member column. Fall report is typically added by early February. Panhellenic doesn’t remove house COBs from the grade reports.

The way to tell who is eligible is by looking at the total number of members. Any house that is under campus total which is somewhere around 440 is eligible to add new members until they reach approximately 440. Not sure on what campus total is right now. Panhel office has the number. It is probable that there are more than a few houses who don't care if they have say 430 members vs. 440. They may, or may not, add new members. The fall report will be interesting to see the chapters total. Then you can see who is actually eligible to cob.

The fall grade report doesn't tell you what the new chapter total is for spring. It doesn't tell you how many dropped after fall semester or who would be eligible for cob in the spring.

Which house had the “massive drops” somebody was posting about at the end of the 1st semester?

Don't know for Winter '23 but if you compare the Spring '23 house totals with Fall '23 returning actives you can see that all but 3 houses came back with about 74-79% of their previous membership after the seniors graduated. This is logical sense because seniors are about a quarter of the membership. To have such an overwhelmingly majority of sororities to retain a high percent of their membership over the summer shows how strong the Greek system is at bama.

The groups that lost more on a % basis are:

ADPi
AOPi
SK

From the Panhel website:

"The following chapters are eligible for Continuous Open Bidding (COB)
beginning the start of the Spring 2024 semester:

Alpha Delta Pi
Alpha Phi
Kappa Alpha Theta
Sigma Kappa

Please note: just because a chapter is eligible for COB does not mean that will participate. Additionally, filling out the interest form does not guarantee that a woman will be contacted by a chapter."

DZ takes COB’s to replace December graduates (if they have 6 December graduates they will take 6 COBS). However they are already done and usually finish very early as most of their COB’s are friends of active members

aphi is always on the list. last spring they took 30 cob with gpa of 2.64, spring before that 50 with gpa 2.69. spring before that 36 gpa 2.58. they are not very selective so struggle w retention.

that's not how it works. unless losing dec graduates put them under total they would not be eligible for cob

Are you sure about APhi's spring COB numbers and grades? I can't believe their nationals would put up with that.
