Panhellenic Love

by:

Say what you want about sororities but there's something sweet about a giant group of girls that just want to love each other, live in a barbie dream house together, play dress up, and have fun events together, no Kens necessary.

It’s like we get to be part of one of the closest things to Barbieland.

Please don't say that. You're kind of forgetting that we're in college and have some brains and ambition, believe it or not.

Sorority membership is so, so much more beneficial than having all that fluff. There are important things to get out of membership that no one really cares about on an ig or tt but that will do a lot more good and last your whole lifetime.

I have ready made connections through my sisters to just about any organization or club or activity on campus that I might want to join. I have sisters in classes and we all help each other with homework and studying. I have a support group who will stand up for me when I need it and give me a dose of reality when I need that. And we are going through things together, lots of bad stuff along with the good experiences, and supporting each other through both. We have good role models and bad examples and personal successes and awful mistakes all through our house, and we learn from it all.

I know how to run a meeting like a boss. I know how to speak to a large group of people and get them to listen. I know what works to motivate people and what doesn't. I have a better understanding of when to speak and when to keep my mouth shut. And I now know I can find something in common with people I never thought I would and count them as good friends.

Please don't call it Barbieland.

The Barbie viewpoint is what makes a dude, who hasn't got the therapy he really needs, go put on a skirt and makeup and say he's a 'girl' and think that he can be a sorority sister. That is some of the worst misogyny there is and why we need our own protected spaces. Girls are more than clothes and makeup. And yes, I love clothes and make up and being very feminine, but that hardly scratches the surface.
