So KD is top by far?

There is no actual #1 house at Alabama. There are strong houses and ones that struggle more. The houses with the highest retention rates as a percentage of their total size are:

KD, AXO, XO

the houses with the lowest retention rate as a percentage of their total size are:

DZ, ADPi, SK, KAT

----------------------

The retention rates are only one indicator and really it depends on things like how many seniors a sorority has.

ADPi is bending rules allowing sisters to claim they are on internships or studying abroad for multiple semesters for a reduced fee. If you are taking full time classes in Tuscaloosa you should have to pay what all the other actives pay. Reduced fees to not come to the house or go to parties, formals or chapter (and not being fined for missing it). Kinda sus since why pay for letters when it’s not a sisterhood.

Are they falsely claiming they’re doing those things, or are they just inactive for the semester? I’m not an adpi but my sorority lets members go inactive if they need to. Typically it’s mental health, family issues, money situations change, tough semester in school etc. that causes girls to go inactive. I’ve heard of several other houses who also offer this.

Alpha Phi had 58 girls drop out. You can’t make this stuff up.

Facts about recruitment and houses

It’s seems pretty normal to have @ 10-15 members graduating in December, especially in houses with high GPAs. Maybe that’s just my house tho.

Do those numbers include girls who transferred to different colleges? tbh, I’m not from Alabama or the south and Bama is a culture shock. Don’t get me wrong because I really love it here now, but I don’t think it’s a good fit for some girls.

The numbers that OP presents is the loss of members from end of fall to beginning of spring, for any reason. People graduate or do study abroad, or transfer out, and yes, 10-15 is about right for December graduation. But anything over around 30 means that members are dropping out of their sorority, or flunking out if GPA is an issue. If it is consistent from year to year, that chapter is struggling.

When you rank houses...this list should be looked at! The best houses have the high retention rates. Yes...there are mant reasons people leave, but pmms the houses that have 20+ on this list are not top houses!

Not true. For instance both KKG and DDD are top houses.

It all depends how many seniors graduate in Dec. Most houses have 400+. It is possible to have a year where many seniors, who could be 1/4 of the members (100), graduate at mid-year.

Also the op is not smart. They added any cob new members to the number of people who graduated. A lot of houses will cob in the spring to replace mid-year graduates if they are under campus total. The op double counted.

The op double counted. They added graduated seniors to spring cob new members to get inflated numbers.

If a group decided to replace some seniors who graduated in December - let's say 10. Then that group replaced those 10 with new members in the spring - the op counts that as 20 dropouts.

If house had 10 seniors graduate in Dec. and does not replace them with any new members in the spring - the op counts that as 10 dropouts.

Don't be fooled by number manipulations by alums trying to sway you.

This is not right. It is not double counting.

Example: there are two houses - both have 400 in fall. Both houses have 10 people graduate in December, and both have 10 people drop. House B adds 20 people in spring COB, house A does not.

Both houses will show the exact same number of drops based on how the op calculated this and they should be the same, they both lost 20 people.

House A:
400 (fall number) - 380 (spring number) - 0 (number of COB's added) = 20 people dropped

House B
400 (fall number) - 400 (spring number) - 20 (number of cob's added) = 20 people dropped.

I think girls drop KAT because they get continuously bashed on GR and girls drop them right away after rush. ADP don’t know. They do not get publicly pushed down as much, but their drop numbers are high, like a year or two ago they had 90 drop. Could be something different there.
