Ranks Do Not Matter on this Campus

by:

I had to check this site out since the dumb documentary. Yikes, its more toxic than its ever been before and I have to believe that people that are now obsessed with the Bama Greek system are now participating in commenting here. The information and comments are so bad. I hope PNMs aren't really taking any of this as serious information about sororities or fraternities.

Unlike other campuses, sorority house ranks here DO NOT MATTER because every house is strong and active here. No house really has any problem getting members. This is not like some colleges where the Greek system is slowly dying so being in a top house matters in order to get the full Greek experience. Here, the number of PNMs that go through recruitment INCREASES every year. This means that ALL houses on this campus get quality girls...it's not limited to just the top houses.

I would also like to clear up another thing- your future house (no matter the rank on this stupid site), will give you a great experience and in every house you will:

1. Meet girls that will be your best friends forever and other girls that are annoying. There will be 350-400 girls in your house, you won't love all of them.

2. You will have rules as new member that you have to follow. All houses have rules for new members which will include attending meetings and sisterhood events, not wearing your letters in certain places, your appearance, your GPA requirements, paying your dues, social media posts, and pomping until you die during homecoming. Some houses are stricter about certain things than others. We all did it, you'll be fine. If you don't like rules about conduct, I don't think the Greek system is for you because every house cares about the reputation they are trying to maintain or, in some case, change.

3. Nobody cares about your letters once you accept a bid. I have friends in all the houses. I'm in a NR house that isn't ranked super high on GR and none of my friends in other houses care and I don't care what their letters are either. I have never had a problem getting into any fraternity party, getting asked to NOLA or other date parties, etc. If you are cute and fun, fraternity guys don't care.

4. You will have a ton of social opportunities in any house. Every house has sisterhood events, themed swaps with fraternities, date parties, homecoming pairings, etc. Every. Single. One. Any comments here that a certain house doesn't do this or that is total garbage. If you want to socialize and meet guys, you'll get that chance in every house.

5. All the houses are mansions and beautiful. SK is in the process of building its mansion because they are new on campus. Otherwise, comparing one mansion to another one is just stupid. Have you seen the sorority houses on other campuses? All of our houses are amazing. Live in your house if you get the chance.

6. Be yourself during recruitment and do not worry about the houses that release you. Focus on the houses that want you and are so excited to have you back each round. I fell in love with my house during the second round and it just kept getting better because it was clear to me that they really liked me too. I didn't even know about the ranks so I was clueless and that made for a great recruitment week. Remember that EVERYONE gets released from all the houses but one during the week; the timing of the releases just varies. Don't freak out. You will be ok.

The girls that join a house just to gain instant popularity are often disappointed because they are always the ones that are always complaining about the rules, breaking them, and causing embarrassment to their house. The rest of the members cringe when those freshman PNMs role in like they are better than the house and rules. There are 2-3 houses here that seem to attract the most thirsty clout chasers- Zeta, Aphi, PM. All houses have one clique of these types but those 3 have the largest number.

Yep, Shelby Rose solidified PM’s inclusion in this category. She’s a “public figure.” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Zeta and PM girls on GR 24/7. Clout chasing behavior ladies.

I’m not from the South and definitely a GR troll because I don’t go to AL but Shelby Rose is the college version of Honey Boo Boo. Is the whole PM house like that? I’m mesmerized by that crazy possibility.

Is also add:

7. Bid day is kind of an awkward day. Even if you got your top choice, you run to your house and don’t know anyone other than the 3-4 older girls that you met in the house during recruitment. Some girls around will be so joyful and others may be crying because they are disappointed. You feel pressure to act excited and act like you instantly belong. It’s awkward. Don’t let that stress you out. It happens at every house. The new member retreats that you get to go to after are so fun and a great way to start meeting new friends among your sisters.

I will also say, bid day is a bigger day for the Actives because they are excited to get most of the girls they wanted and they are relieved recruitment is over because it marks an end of two straight weeks of 14+ hours days of practice and recruitment. The Actives will stick around on bid day and then get the hell out of there because they are tired, want to spend time with their boyfriends, and finally get to go out and party with their friends. Trust me, their week was way more grueling than yours.

Also, I didn’t feel like my house was really my home until I spent day and night complaining with others and pomping during homecoming in October. Making close friends and feeling at home takes time and effort and overcoming the weirdness of putting yourself out there. Go to the house for meals, introduce yourself to other new members, and go to the sisterhood events and swaps with girls you just met. Try and you will find your people.

This is such an underrated comment! No one tells you what to expect on bid day or how that transition into sorority life works. Feelings good or bad are so normal and if you do think about it, the concept of running home to your bffs is weird! Especially when you’ve only known them for a week or so for most girls. This is what I wish I knew when I was a pnm. Sorority’s are completely what you put in, you get out. A top house won’t change that.

As we approach the most toxic 4 weeks on GR leading up to recruitment, I’m bumping this because this is 100% true.

You all will be fine. Every house is fun and full of potential new friends.

Unless you have one of those creepy moms where what house you end up in impacts her love for you, it really doesn’t matter. Go where you feel liked and where you belong. It’s that simple.

If you are worried about ranks because of parties and the way the dudes feel, I think you may be joining a sorority for the wrong reasons. Sisterhood, finding a home way from home, and fun should be your top concerns.

I’m in a NR house that is always ranked by OR mamas and trolls on here at the bottom and I can say fraternity guys don’t care. They just don’t.

Ranks matter here if you are a girl from AL or the other surrounding Southern states. Most of these girls are planning on returning to their hometowns and their sorority stays will weirdly come into play.

For everyone else and fraternity guys, it does not matter one bit.

No one will ever care what house you were in after you graduate no matter where you live.

But the same is true for houses strong in other areas as well. I know a NR house that gets a ton of Nashville girls because the strat is strong at Vandy and in the Nashville area and another NR house that gets a lot of northern girls because they are strong in the Ivy League. All houses have girls that really want to join their membership. Do not take any house here for granted! They all are fun and fantastic.

Commenting so this gets back on the first page because PNMs need to see it.
