Old Row / New Row Difference
by: xxx
A lot of people get confused on how these groups are different and how ranks are done at UA.
The Old Row houses (frat & srat) are VERY traditional SEC greek houses. Not only are they the top houses for girls from AL, but girls in the southern region in general. The girls in these houses would be in iconic top houses at Ole Miss, LSU, UT, UGA, Auburn, etc. They also rely heavily on southern girls but they are more likely to stay all 4 years at UA, the sorority, and contribute as an alum. The houses have beautiful girls but aren’t seen as “looks” houses because it’s not the end all, be all for them. They look at $$, connections, grade, involvement, where you’re from, rep, etc. REALLY big on not pledging girls that are a liability which is why the influencers always end up in new row.
There are multiple Old Row lanes:
- Whole package: PM, AXO, DDD
- Rich, exclusive party girls: KKG, KD
- Studious, religious, involved: AGD, XO, AXO
New Row is very mostly OOR heavy (out of southern region - for frats and srats). The most popular houses in NR tend to be more the social and trendy ones - ZTA, Aphi, Pi Phi. The popular ones are more similar to how sororities are in the west coast or north. Though there are NR houses that try to fit the more OR mold/formula and are less concerned about looks and partying - ADPI, AOPI.
There are multiple New Row lanes:
- Trendy/Social: Pi Phi | ZTA & APHI (+looks)
- Involvement/Studious: ADPI, AOPI, DG
- Social/Mix: DZ, Gphi
- Free/Liberal: Theta, SK

honest question…no hate.
do you think any new row girl could get into PKT (pi phi, kappa, theta) at texas?
do you think any old row girl could get into michigan or asu alpha phi?
i think if you know of those infamous houses that kind of shows the differences lol.

This is a really good explanation, this should be bumped throughout the summer for PNM's.
For the Old Row lanes, Kappa's chapter gpa went way up this last grade report. I wonder if that was just a blip or if they are adjusting their recruitment strategy to be more like AXO and DDD with the whole package. I think they were higher than DDD on this last report. It will be interesting to see the spring grade report.

Pretty accurate TBH
To explain further, within Old Row, there is even more exclusivity: First Circle. First circle is made up of DDD, KD, and AGD. This is like the old row of old row. Tons of tradition, very well connected, southern girls from old southern families

pkt in texas are very zip code based so no. like you have to be from dallas/houston and have the money and looks. they would probably be tri delts or zetas or chi os.
and very very few phi mus and tri delts could be aphis at schools like asu, arizona, ucla, ucsb, michigan, osu, penn state, indiana, syracuse, boston, etc bc they recruit like very niche girls. tbh only like a quarter of aphi and zetas here could get into those aphis.
