Gpa for sorority’s

by:

I have a 3.1 and I really would like to rush. I know I’ll probably get cut from some but do I have any chances in getting a bid from any house? I know gpa is a factor when rushing. I had a lot of things happen in my personal life my junior year that caused me to go online and I really struggled and it effected my gpa. I just don’t know if I should even try to rush or if it’s pointless at that point.

If you can’t do better then a 3.1 in high school, college is not going to be easy for you. Maybe try community college first to get a good GPA and then rush as a sophomore with a 3.5+ college GPA

Firstly, I'm so sorry that you had a hard time and I hope that you are doing well now and receiving any help you need. High school is so tough socially, just remember that your grades are not a reflection of you as a person and do not determine your value as a human being. I feel like our current grading system is so outdated!

In terms of rush, my best advice is to try and boost your GPA, even though there should be one semester left, I would reach out to your teachers individually and ask for help on doing so.

Next would be to work on extracurriculars. Try volunteer as much as possible these next few months, join different clubs and activities - even if you do something like social tennis you can add it to your resume. Examples of other activities that I'd recommend if you don't do already include joining church groups, part-time jobs like babysitting, tutoring elementary students, etc.

I would participate in rush in the fall and if you don't get any of the houses back that you like you can always drop, work on getting a solid GPA for your freshman year, and then rush again as a sophomore. I personally feel like it's easier to rush as a sophomore since you would've made friends and would have connections in some of the houses.

Good luck! <3
