Dirty Rushing??

by:

How common is dirty rushing? I've heard from a couple of my friends that they were dirty rushed and ended up elsewhere. Is dirty rushing just part of bid lists being done before August, or like what usually happens and do girls usually end up with a bid from that house or being dropped?

It doesn't really happen. Pnm's say that every year when they actually have no idea what dirty rushing really is. And the rising sophomore sorority members who have never been through rush on the other side as actives don't even know what dirty rushing really is, so they sometimes shoot their mouths off too. Sorority members in every house follow, like and friend about a thousand pnm's every year on SM. They also talk to and hang out with pnm's in their home towns or whatever because they already know them or kind of know them through mutual friends or contacts. They will talk about rush and offer advise and say how great their house is. During this time and also during rush pnm's will be told how much we 'can't wait to see you!!!...' or variations of that. None of that is dirty rushing. None of that is bid promising. Bid lists are not done in August. Anything can and does happen during recruitment week and you don't know for sure how your sisters are going to vote on a pnm. There's a whole inter-chapter dynamic that goes on in a chapter during recruitment with a lot of politicking and power plays that pnm's and newer actives have no clue about. There are also a lot of tears and broken hearts in chapters when actives' favorite girls don't come back. Nobody is bid promised or dirty rushed; girls just like to flatter themselves.

Don't agree on this one.
Sorority members may not contact pnms prior to formal recruitment whether they know them or kind of know them. It is not just bid promising that is considered dirty rushing, but even contact with a pnm is considered dirty. It is telling a pnm that you're excited to meet them or see them during recruitment. It might be telling them your sisters can't wait to meet them or your house is excited to have them. It is when you make that contact and give a pnm that feeling they might be handed a bid. This goes on in person, private chats, snap, and group me. It's wrong.

You need to read the rules. Sorority members can absolutely have contact with pnm's except during the official No Contact period right before. Girls are going to see other girls throughout the summer and meet their friends and their little sister's friends who are pnm's casually, and that's perfectly fine and normal. You can't stop people from having a social life and that would be wrong. As long as the contact is not an organized recruiting attempt, as long as there are less then 5 actives present, and as long as a pnm is not told specifically 'you're getting a bid' it's not wrong, not dirty, and allowed. "I AM SO BEING DIRTY RUSHED BY......" no, you're not.

You can tell yourself whatever you want, but dirty rushing is going on regardless of how the rules are stated. The most organized dirty rush attempts are the one-on-one relationships. It's the subtle things that are said to a pnm. If you feel it's ONLY dirty when you say "you're getting a bid" then technically you are correct.

You can't be expected to shut yourself away and not see friends and meet people over the summer. It's ridiculous. Connected girls like to brag that they are being dirty rushed to seem more important than they really are, unconnected girls like to say they missed out because the connected girls had an unfair advantage and it was dirty. You can't un-know pnm's that you already know, or know of through others. It can be an advantage for some but it certainly works the other way around too, and there are pnm's who get cut immediately because of being known about. Girls are going to brag and whine no matter what.

Tell yourself what you want, but you know what you are doing. It is not the pnm that it is playing the game during that summer contact period. You know better.

There is contact allowed for part of the summer. You're just crying 'no fair' for not already knowing sorority members. You tell your own self that it's no fair to have an advantage getting a job through contacts, it's no fair getting appointed to a committee or board through contacts, it's no fair being offered a club membership through contacts, it's no fair getting more votes through contacts, etc. None of these are blind processes. Contacts exist in the world and figure into everything where people get to have an opinion. Sororities are social clubs and membership selection is not blind either. I hope you know better.

Just so you know I am an active and I know the game. You can lecture all you want as if I am a disadvantaged pnm, but this is all going on. I am just speaking out because I know the drill. Everyone loves a good connection, but don't try to say there is no element of dirty rushing going on.

I know the drill very well. I'm saying that it is not dirty. And just so you know, it's obvious you're not an active here.
