how much influence do rush chairs have?

I'm planning on rushing this spring and just wanna know how much influence rush chairs in particular have on whether or not a person gets a bid. I know about half of the guys in a fraternity and one of the rush chairs is one of my better friends there- should I be set to get a bid or do they not really have that much say in the matter?

Rush chairs do have a lot of influence because they're the rush chair. However, any decent fraternity's rush chair will have the guy come to the house a few times and meet as many brothers as possible in order to gauge how well of a fit he is in the house.
Use your connections in the house to get invited to as many rush events as possible, while there make sure you talk to guys you don't already know and leave a good impression on them. You should have no problems getting a bid.
