old vs. new
by: 2rich4youcan someone please explain the contraversy between new and old row

The argument is more relevant for fraternities. Basically, old row for frats means the original houses on campus. They have alot of tradition, power, and are very southern. For sororities it's different, because ADPI and ZTA were both within the first 3 sororities on campus, but neither are old row. Nowadays, old row means you're sponsered by budweiser so you get free tshirts and a couple parties a year. argo, yes, all the fighting is over 2 parties a year....Adpi and ZTA nationals will not allow their houses to be sponsered by alcohol companies i believe.

As far as fraternities, when you think old row, think legacies, old money, the original houses on campus, very Southern. You will have elements of this in new row, but not as much. New row might be considered a little bit more open to out of staters....not all of new row, but some.
