new vs old row

What is the difference between new & old row? I always see it brought up in the topics and reviews for the sororities but have no idea what people are talking about. Thanks :)

I've met maybe 2 guys EVER who give a hoot whether a girl is in an old row versus a new row sorority. And those 2 guys were idiots who couldn't get a date with anyone.

Then you have met 2 more than me! Old row technically is a term originally for fraternities. Now it's a collective group of houses ( not the oldest) that pay additional into a fund. They are sponsored currently by Budweiser. Some sororities nationals do not allow their houses to be sponsored by any alcohol companies. That's it.

however old row thinks being called "old row" gives them prestige but it doesnt

I would argue that ATO, Delta chi, and Kappa Sig are relevant as well.
