racism in sororities? would like a response.

So a few months ago, there were some problems with african americans receiving membership into some of the sororities. As a black woman, I'm very disturbed by this story as I would love to join a sorority. Also, to my understanding, it wasn't the current members at fault but rather the alumni (at least from one of the sources that I read). I would like a greeks prospective on this issue, if something is being done, and truthfully if I should even bother rushing.
