Not always. Depends on why you got dropped in the first place

Nope. Some sororities might be required to take a certain number of sophomores based on their quota. If you do well your freshmen year and maybe make some friends in the house then you have a good chance of getting a bid sophomore year

It really depends on the house and her relationship with the members. Making friends is always helpful, but it may not give someone a good chance.

If those friends are able to convince others that they need this girl, then sure. But a lot of stuff plays into that--the girl needs to have a competitive package and needs to have influential friends.

I'm not trying to discourage anyone, just saying that it's complicated and keep realistic expectations. I've seen sisters in my house fight for girls who were ultimately not offered bids to my chapter for various reasons.

Depends. Some places may not remember if they dropped you last year. Others might. If you have a whole year to make friends in chapters that could also play to your advantage. Or you could have a whole year to piss some girl off.

It depends on why they dropped you and if you can fix that.

At some houses you may have been borderline and gotten dropped, and in that case they might not remember why they dropped you last year.

But at other houses they may have more of a reason to drop you and you would be surprised at how good people's memories are when your face is up again during membership selection.

The more competitive houses are already more competitive and have lots of girls wanting them. All houses have girls going through with connections, and it's amped up at the more competitive houses because there are so many girls vying for those spots. So generally you are less likely to get a bid from them if you go through again as a sophomore.

Usually girls have their best chance at their choice of houses during formal recruitment freshman year. Houses don't take as many sophomores so the choices are limited. Only about half the houses COB. So my suggestion is to stay in recruitment, even if you've been disappointed and find a new favorite house and fall in love with them. Over and Over. As many times as it takes. All houses have 400 or so girls and you can find ones that you'll be thrilled to know.

Honestly? I had a much better rush as a sophomore. I got back houses that dropped me freshman year and ended up in my top choice house. I’d made friends in my house and was just generally better prepared for rush. It’s definitely nerve wracking and I’d think long and hard about dropping this year, but for me it ended up working out and I know other sophomores who have had the same experience!
