Snap and cob

Is there any way to increase your chances of getting a snap or cob bid?

Most sororities will not be giving out snap bids.

Your COB chances (for those sororities that participate this fall):
1). Register on the Panhellenic website.
2). When no contact ends, reach out to girls you know and express interest.
3). Make sure that your social media is appropriate...sororities will be taking a second look as they contemplate COB invitations.
[Note if your GPA was the biggest issue, your best shot is to study like crazy this fall and COB in the spring.]

No not really, getting in through snap bids and COB is harder than you think. If you drop you will most likely not have a house this semester

I’m an alumna so shoot me for being on GR but.....nobody ever talked or knew about snap bids before Greek Rank. Now all the PNM’s think they can drop because they don’t like the chapters they have left and they’ll magically get the unicorn of all bids - the elusive “snap bid.”

Newsflash - the rumors of who got a snap bid and which chapters didn’t make quota are almost always exaggerated times 1,000.

Repeat after me: YOU WILL NOT GET A SNAP BID. Do not make any decisions based on the impossibly small chance that the house you want will fail to make quota and that they will want you - out of allllll the PNM’s and other women who didn’t even go through rush - to fill that one magical spot in their pledge class. Just don’t.

In the age of guaranteed bids for every pnm who makes it to Pref (and signs a Pref card with all Pref houses attended) and Quota Additions, it is so very rare for a chapter to not make quota. Especially strong and middle recruiting chapters.

For COB, rush events are private and by invitation only. There is no “open house” round like formal rush. So there is no guarantee that the houses who will be eligible are even going to be interested in you.

If you still have invitations, your best chance of going Greek is happening right now. Don’t miss it!

With the huge number of PNMs, and under the current system of bid matching (RFM), it is unlikely that any chapter would fail to make quota (the only situation where a snap can be used. Quota additions are not used to make quota but go beyond). Since with RFM chapters are assigned a number by Panhellenic that may be invited back based on past return rates, a really popular chapter may have a comparatively small number of potential pref invites to extend and a narrow margin of error. It's possible in that situation for that chapter to miss quota by a few, but extremely unlikely that you as a PNM would receive that snap bid even IF that unlikely scenario happened. COB is a possibility, though not the "second-chance" recruitment that PNMs who drop seem to think it is. Snap bids are really not a reasonable possibility.
