New house construction in the future?

So of topic from rush, how does it work with new house construction? I know SK is in the swing house but how long do you think it could be until they get a new build?

SDT, they have a smaller house on frat row. With them participating in formal and potentially getting a larger pledge class, will they be looking at a bigger house? Or moving into the swing house when SK leave?

What are your thoughts?

The main condition of PH voting to invite SK back to campus was that they have a concrete plan in place to build a new house within a few years.

I think as SDT grows they’ll move into the swing house. I assume they will have the same requirements for pledge class size. So they’ll outgrow their current house

Where would they put SK's new house? Sorority row is already crowded as it is

if they didn't have a place to put SK, they definitely wouldn't be on campus. maybe where harris hall is now, or the abandoned building behind SK?

Google is your best friend. Look at the campus master plans and sorority row.

Once the old Tut gets torn down, there will be room for at least 3 house on that site.

The building behind sk/next to gphi is Barnwell hall, it’s slated to be renovated into a small recreation center among other pretty cool things that will be available to all students but primarily sorority row and tut. So it won’t go to a sorority.

It could be that the university will ask AKA to move into alpha gam’s old house so SK can combine those two lots, but that doesn’t leave a house for SDT. Another option may be tearing down osband next to DG.

Don’t even start this. Aka will not move and the university knows this! They belong just as much on sorority row and will NOT give up their house. You know how much problems that would cause asking them to move.

1. Obviously it would have to be ok with AKA. Plenty of houses have had to make sacrifices and weren’t even really given a choice. I’m sure gphi and aphi don’t love being in BFN.

2. Alpha Gam’s old house is definitely on sorority row and is also bigger than AKA’s current house so not sure why it would cause issues

There is also a lot of room next to DG that isn’t being used so that’s another option for the two houses to pick from

Sig Delt was offered to use the swing house next to Harris and they turned it down but with a larger pledge class they might rethink that for next year

Their nationals didn’t approve the move. They wanted the house really bad
