Being Cut.

by: pnm

I know a lot of us are discouraged about the huge amount of cuts today, but please remember you do not want a house that doesn’t want you. If you’re joining a sorority for status or only seeking a “top” house, then you’re doing this for the wrong reasons. Rushing shouldn’t be about being in a top house, it’s about finding a home and a group of girls that you can cal family. Please don’t be upset. If you truly do not like a house you can always COB or rush another time.

Good luck loves <3

It’s heartbreaking to see the amount of pnms cut from houses today. It’s like this every year because of the large amount of girls that rush. Often times girls are cut that were wanted by houses but they have to reduce their numbers and the first cut is the biggest and one where girls get releases that shouldn’t have. Just know that it will all work out the way it’s supposed to. Lots of tears today from pnms and actives both. This is the hard part that no one ever tells you about. Good luck to all.

Not gonna lie I was a little bit sad about getting dropped by so many “top” houses, but now that I’m meeting with other houses, I’m beginning to realize I didn’t belong there. These new houses already make me feel so loved and like I could actually fit in there.

I love to hear that! I was in the same boat when I went through recruitment. I was upset about being dropped from these houses that are highly ranked on here despite having conversations where the girls clearly showed no interest on me. It was a blessing in disguise and I found a house that I loved and that loved me. It ended up being the best experience I could have ever asked for. As cliche as it sounds, I met my future bridesmaids, the best friends ever and as the years went on, my relationships with the girls in my pledge class I didn’t know freshman year grew stronger and stronger. At the time I was upset but I promise you that it will all be worth it in the end.

Also know that active members did not get to vote on cuts made open house round! We had no say on who made it to philanthropy round

For me somebody who has a 3.4 gpa was in leadership roles in after school activities as well as volunteers I was surprised to see only two parties on my schedule today then noticed nothing for next to days. Is anyone else like this is there a tech issue

at the end of the day you’ll end up where you’re meant to end up, so don’t focus on the houses that don’t want you and just focus on presenting your best self to the two amazing houses that do want you!

there’s so many things that you can be cut for that you can’t even keep track of it. It could be something you did, or you didn’t do anything and you never showed up on the houses radar. When sorority’s have to get from 2,000+ girls to less than half of that in one round, the easiest ways to go about it is by starting with everyone without a rec gets dropped, everyone below a 3.2 gets dropped, then 3.3, then when it gets into the 3.4/3.5/3.6 categories there’s other factors like how does this girls social media look, will she be a pr risk? Is someone holding a red solo cup in a picture? Is she posting inappropriate things on YouTube/twitter/tik tok? Do other people in the chapter know her/does she have a reputation? And it can also be a case of they know nothing about you and you haven’t done anything wrong but they have to cut you because you don’t stand out in any way. Hope this makes sense!

I hate to say it but I agree with @active!
If you got dropped to 2 houses after the first round you never even stood a chance
