Strongest Sisterhoods

by:

Can someone be honest and list the strongest sisterhoods? I really don’t want to be in a house that’s very cliquey and rude to certain pnms!

DG and AOPi are the first that come to mind as genuinely liking each other

Aopii literally has a rule that you have to ask a sister if you can hook up with her ex before you do it. I would know because I was one

If you were an aoii you wouldn’t spell it “aopii” so try again

Not trying to talk smack about any houses but a lot of the old row houses have issues with cliques, namely KD and Kappa. This is because they all grew up together, their parents were members, and they have formed these groups prior to rushing. Not to say that all sororities don’t have cliques within them, because they do, but old row sororities seem to be the worst with this issue.

PNMS, think about who you really are, not who you WANT to be when choosing your house!! Go where you don't feel like you have to try to impress anyone

I am a member of one of the two houses you mentioned above. For me, it’s frustrating and upsetting when people constantly question my sisterhood that they aren’t even apart of. In both of these houses there are girls that have known they would be a kappa/kd since high school or maybe even younger. They are almost all from Montgomery/mountain brook/Mobile/New Orleans/ATL/Charlotte. These girls are often time in leadership positions in the houses and focus on rushing the girls that will make up the next “in group” And while they are nice girls, they tend to not branch out much from their group of 20 or so.

But that’s the thing— it is literally 20 girls in an entire pledge class of 100+. I really liked my house going through rush but was afraid of the things posted in here, that if you’re not from one of those areas you’ll be disregarded as a sister and not acknowledged. This hasn’t been my experience whatsoever and I know plenty of girls in the other house that aren’t in the “in” group but still love their house and the friends they have made. I am from OOS and have friends from all over the country in my pledge class and house. And even though I’m not in the “in” group, I literally have 400 other girls that are all cool, chill, and welcoming. I wish both of these houses wouldn’t get so much hate from people that likely aren’t in the houses— and just because you know one girl in my house who hates it doesn’t mean it reflects the majority. If you’re a PNM and reading this, I hope that you have a great experience in whatever house you’re in; but also I hope you don’t count out KD, kappa, or any other house based off the stuff you read on here. Anyone bashing another house have no idea what it’s actually like to be apart of that sisterhood.

by: Retention rates

If any of you look at the retention rates ( especially over the past two years) from spring semester actives you fall semester actives, you will see who has a healthy house. If you see a house with barely 250 members returning, those girls have fewer sisterhood connections and fun events drawing them to come back and spend $$$. Both Kappa and KD have VERY healthy retention rates.

Yes, you’re right about that, but you can’t deny that the sisterhoods in these houses aren’t the strongest. It’s a universally known thing around the row. Lots of girls in these houses aren’t happy for this specific reason.

I think the point was that the girls who all knew each other going into rush don’t even make up a large percentage of these houses. There are girls that exclude others and refuse to branch out in every. single. house.

kkg and kd’s main problem is that these girls control the leadership and don’t represent the majority of the girls. other houses have this problem too (mainly OR) but KD and kappa will improve when they have more girls outside of the mobile crowd on their exec

Did you actually read what I wrote? KD and Kappa have healthy retention rates. Their members enjoy their house for all four years. Instate and OOS members. They enjoy their friends. They enjoy their activities. They are willing to pay to stay their senior year versus going alumnas status.

Ddd is a lot of cliques. Honestly best sisterhoods are the following, in no order:

Chi O, Alpha Chi, ADPi, DG, DZ, GPB, Theta, Zeta, SK, and Kappa.

No one is mad about their retention rates. It is impressive. It is also impressive how AXO is constantly promoted on this site. Poster is just making fun of the moms that stalk this site religiously.

AXO is also one of the only houses that will not let you drop in the middle of the year. You are in a binding contract for the year once you pay your dues. SO their retention rate looks higher because the girls drop in the summer so it just looks like they had a large class graduate, not drop.

All OR houses have great retention because they have the most in state and the most members who stay at Bama all 4 years

The more out of state girls you take, the bigger retention risk you have.

In my opinion it’s worth it. I came to college to meet new friends from all over.

@retention rates I was responding to the girl who said that KD/kappa having leadership mainly from a couple hometowns proves the point that girls who aren’t in that group are unhappy

I’m going to assume you’re a kappa because the kappas/kds are getting super defensive on here. You must be on the in crowd in these houses. It. Is. Not. The. Same. Experience. For. All. Girls. In. That. House. The sisterhood is awful because of these issues regardless of whether you think so or not. I live with girls in both houses who were not in the in crowd and her friends have all backed up what was said about these houses.
