Do deferred bids exist

by: Pnm

I heard that it was possible to receive a bid and defer it for a semester then get initiated later. Is that a thing?

I’ve never heard of this personally. I thought you could only accept or turn it down. As long as you haven’t been initiated you can always re-rush later and try again, but tbh that house probably won’t bid you again since you’ll have proved you won’t stick with it. Might have a shot at a different house though

Technically according to Panhellenic rules, since you are bound to a bid for an entire year you could tell a house you aren’t ready to accept and then revisit that decision within a year. I’m not sure how that’s applied from house to house though. It doesn’t happen very often.
