Spring Rush ????

Why arent we moving things to the spring? Virtual will not be fair or fun.

How is virtual recruitment any less “fair” than in person? All of the same things that would normally be talked about are talked about. My guess is they don’t want to move it because their yearly budget is based on the assumption that they’ll have 4 PCs paying dues, but if during fall there’s only 3, they would lose a LOT of money and have to charge all of the actives a lot more to make up for it, which isn’t really fair to any of us. Also, one of the benefits of joining a sorority as a freshman is it’s a really great way to make tons of friends right away and get adjusted to campus. Try to have a positive attitude about it and embrace the process even if it looks different this year

Because $$$, chapters need a new PC to pay for their houses. Also, who said things would be better by spring. Stop being a whiny baby and play with the cards you’ve been dealt

Houses aren’t serving food except in to-go boxes, no pledge retreats, no run on Bid Day. You wouldn’t have wanted that for your rush and these girls should have a chance for the whole experience in the Spring.

by: Ok?

They can redo those things in the spring then lol. If it’s even better by then. Chances are it’ll get worse in the winter and spring will be the same situation

Get off GR, mom. Boohoo the houses have to temporarily change the way they operate to comply for university, state, and federal guidelines for the safety of everyone. But god forbid your sweet angel not get to run to her house on bid day! Things likely won’t be better in the spring and restrictions won’t have been lifted, so stop fantasizing about it.

Joining a sorority is about more than running to the house on bid day. It’s about the friends you make that will be your friends forever. Let’s not forget the whole reason girls want to join a sorority. Also at most schools, sororities don’t have in house meals, pledge retreats, bid day run or anything and they survive and love their sisterhood just fine. Let’s not lose sight of what’s really important.

Yeah but at most schools they don’t pay for those things either. I would be shocked if dues are reduced significantly enough this semester to make up for the lost experiences. I’m not interested in paying for meals if I can’t eat them with my friends at the house.

Helloooooo ! Most actives and pnms PREFER the spring this year! If it’s no better, then nothing is lost. We don’t want to come back and sit in our dorm rooms to have rush in august. Get off of here mom/granny. The reality is that there are not going to be bonding activities this Fall and most people want to wait. Why in the world would you argue with that? Most people are very scared to come back to school period this Fall. It’s not about being ungrateful, it’s about being smart and rush is something that can and should wait.

by: Umm

No it’s not something that can wait. NPC (national panhellenic since you seem uneducated) advised against waiting until the spring. Also, chapters have bills to pay and can’t afford to pay them if they don’t have 4 pledge classes actively paying.

If we wait until spring nothing is lost, really? A whole semester is lost of bonding between pledge classes. You’re so ignorant it’s hilarious. Also, you want to come back before NYE to do rush in person, because that’s what moving it to the spring would look like.

Are you for real? The “vote” occurred when things looked better. None of my friends even want to go back and live in the house- they are locked in by Nationals. None want to go back for rush - things are getting worse and that should be the priority.

Even though cases have been increasing, deaths and hospitalizations have been declining rapidly. This isn’t something to be scared of unless you’re immunocompromised. And “it shouldn’t be all about money” how do you expect the houses to pay for everything in the spring if they lose a ton of money in the fall? Bid day gifts and retreats wouldn’t be possible without excess money lol. You clearly don’t know how a business works. We can’t do formal rush during the school year because there’s these little things called classes, so spring rush would have to happen during winter break. None of us actives want that, but keep speaking for us since you think you know what we want. Most of us are excited to go back and be with our sisters and meet the new PC in the fall regardless of what rush looks like

You lost your point trying to pose as an active while discussing the importance of the sorority as a business. There are about 6 actives per chapter who think like that. You are obviously not going to change your mind, so this is not worth arguing. Wait and see how many students don’t return, if classes meet in person, etc. You obviously have a vested interest in the chapters over the members.

I’m literally a member wtf are you talking about? It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand the business side of sororities lmao

Money money money that’s what it’s all about. That’s it. Nothing more nothing less. They don’t give a hoot the national organization and Bama administration will be sitting in their own houses social distancing while we either show up and live in or stay home and lose out on $$ either way. I’m a senior and was gonna drop after recruitment anyway but I feel for my fam and the younger members and the PNMs.

Also, to the know-it-all earlier, rush is mandatory for actives and a HUGE fine if you choose not to participate. We don’t know anything about how things will be this semester, yet we are supposed to pay?
