PNMS: the bright side

by:

PNMs, look at the bright side of most of rush being virtual because I promise there are some.
1. You won’t be hot, sweaty, agitated, feeling faint, etc. you’ll get to be most comfortable, sitting in your air conditioned room, talking on a camera, you’ll have everything you need readily available to you! You’ll be able to look and feel your best.
2. Conversation will be able to flow easier. You’ll actually be able to hear the active member talking to you, instead of having to just smile and nod when you couldn’t hear what she said because it was so loud. Your conversation will probably be a lot easier and will go places that in person wouldn’t allow it.
3. You won’t be able to compare how other PNMs are treated compared to you. You won’t feel discouraged or upset if you’re not walked out very last or if you only have one member talking to you, those things usually don’t intend to make PNMs upset, but they do and PNMs decide they don’t like a house for that reason. You’ll all be on the same playing field.
4. Finally, registration numbers are lower this year but sororities need members so they don’t have to COB. So the odds of you having a good rush experience increase a lot! Sororities will be willing to compromise on a lot of thing like grades because they need the membership.

This isn’t all bad :)

Agree except for the grades part. A lot of chapters have a hard cut off set by nationals that they can’t really change. They’ll definitely be willing to compromise more on Looks/involvement though

NPC has recommended chapters/national orgs temporarily lighten grade restrictions

Being a liiiitle more lenient doesn’t mean houses that usually have a 3.5 cutoff will take girls with 2.5. Pnms do NOT see rush this year as a free pass. It’ll look a bit difference than usual, but houses still can and will make cuts to uphold the values of their chapter and you’re not guaranteed a bid from anyone.

True, but I could see girls with 2.8 getting bids from houses w a 3.0 minimum and girls w 3.0s getting bids from houses with a 3.2 minimum and girls with 3.2s getting bids from houses with a 3.5 minimum.

yeah, but like doesn't the size of the pc depend on # of pnms rushing? it'll just make for smaller pledge classes. agree that next year will be so much harder for pnms because so many sophomores will be rushing

Size of PC isn’t determined until after pref. So with houses being more lenient with cuts overall, less girls will get cut overall, more girls on pref, larger pc size.
