What is the difference between old and new row?
by: ..I am an incoming freshman looking to rush but I’m a little confused. What is old row and new row and which is better?

I genuinely don't think either one is necessarily better, there are new row houses like zta that are considered "top" houses. As far as the difference goes, old row is primarily instate or in region kids who typically go their parents legacy house. They're typically super traditional and conservative. At the end of the day they are just called old row because at one point they were sponsored by a beer company. For me, I'm from far out of region and in a new row house, but all of my friends are in old row houses. I think it's definitely super relative how much you want to believe in rankings. Alabama is really special because we have such a large greek life that there is literally 400+ girls in each house, you're gonna find at least one person who you mesh with. :) Hope this helped!

Old row and new row is a fraternity thing, sororities are not old row and new row. There are some sororities that are aligned with old row fraternities and called old row. Basically it is about instate versus out of state. If you a good ole boy from Alabama you want old row otherwise it not matter.

The only people that care about old row/new row are in state kids who grew up hearing about it from their parents. TBH the new row houses tend to have more fun and are less focussed on religion(which should have no place in sorority life anyway). Unless you want to hang out with a bunch of stuck up southern christians go new row :)

Wrong. There are seven old row sororities.
AGD, AXO, DDD, KD, KKG, PM, XO
These are generally the most well-established houses and have been on campus for nearly 100 years
