I'm a northerner looking to rush next year but I'm trying to contact some pledge chairs now. Any recommendations on the TOP fraternities that a northern can get into?

Welcome to the South! There are old row fraternities and new row fraternities and Everybody has an opinion on which designation is the best depending on personal affiliation. I can tell you that most of the old row fraternities are populated with local and in-state graduates and new row fraternities have a combination of in and out of state. That being said, there are 30 fraternities at Bama with DKE, SAE & KA the most popular Old row and Theta Chi, Sigma Chi & Pi Kappa Alpha being the most popular new row. I'm in a sorority here and can tell you there are about 5-6 other great fraternities in addition to the above including ATO, Beta, Sigma Nu, Phi Gam, Phi Delt, Pi Kappa Phi. Hope this helps you. Phi Gam, Sigma Nu and Phi Delt are old row. ATO, Beta and Pi Kapps are new row.
