They will ask indirect questions targeted to find out how financially backed you are by your parents that you won’t even realize are meant to target that until after the fact. A house can never ask how much money you or your parents have directly. You’re more likely to hear ‘what did you do this summer?’ ‘what do you do for fun?’ ‘what do you do in your free time?’

Some houses will directly ask what your parents do because they want rich girls that are paying for sorority with daddy’s money and it makes a lot of girls uncomfortable. Not all houses care if you’re rich or not, but they all want to get a feel for your financial situation because Greek life isn’t cheap and they don’t wanna give a bid to someone who’s going to drop because they can’t afford the dues

I think this whole money thing is blown way out of proportion. I’m from an old row house and they’ve never once suggested to us we should see how much their family has. Houses only care about if their members can afford their dues and be a lasting member, other than that we do not care. Are there individual actives that care? Yes, and probably in every house. We don’t ask you what you did this summer to see how much money you have. It’s an easy conversation topic. Also, houses dont care if you Have a job???? There’s tons of girls in each house that have a job? including me and I have never felt judged- all my friends do too. So pnms DONT listen to this bull crap. Be genuine and yourself and you’ll find your house.

Since so many summer things are canceled, what should we talk about instead/ what might the ask us instead?
