question from pnm for actives
by: pnmi’m defintely going to be a grade risk pnm but what are the odds that you take me? i did have some mitigating circumstances that affected my gpa in high school, but i’m not going to sit here and make excuses for it, i own that my gpa isn’t stellar compared to other girls. say i have really good conversations with you during recruitment, my recs are good, my resume DOES represent how well rounded i am, i have a really good ACT score, and i have connections, good social media (ik this isn’t super important but for some houses it does play a factor?) basically, what are my odds of getting a bid if i’m well rounded and look good in EVERY aspect except GPA? sucks because it’s the only thing holding me back and i’m scared to rush for fear of being dropped by everyone.

if your gpa is over a 3.0 you should still have some houses if it’s lower than that and if a sorority really likes you then you may get 1 or 2 back some “bottom” sororities have a 2.7 for hs and 2.5 for college but also some “top” sororities do take in some girls who have lower gpas but not many so just make sure you stand out! if it happens you get a bid you don’t like there’s still COB and next year!

please still rush. Last year I was so scared too I had a 2.7. I got back the max houses on sisterhood round and got my top 2 houses on pref and opened my bid to my number one house. Houses can only take a few girls that are a grade risk. With your pretty good ACT score, connections, and you’re well rounded I think you may have a shot at getting one of those spots. If you rush and you don’t seem to like the houses you are left with try cobing or rushing in the spring.

You could still have a chance at some houses, but probably not grades houses because they’re a lot more strict about their gpa cut offs and what is considered a grade risk. If you don’t end up getting a bid, work hard in college this year and COB or rush your sophomore year, when they’ll use your college gpa and your high school one won’t matter anymore

i have about a 3.2 gpa, and i am in state, so i’m kinda leaning towards old rows, which are considered “top” houses from an in state girl’s perspective. what are my chances there
