Affiliating as a transfer
by: HiyaHey ladies, so I’m transferring here in the fall. I’m coming from a big 10 school so it’s probably different vibes. I backed out of coming to Bama as freshman because I was too scared to go off to school across the country. What I’m wondering is if the affiliation process sororities as a transfer is complicated or selective?? I really loved my home chapter and wanna continue my experience as a sorority woman with the ladies of my chapter at Bama. After browsing through here it seems like my chapter is top or upper mid here. If I’m being honest with you as much as I loved my home chapter we were low mid. So I assume the ladies might be a tad different then what I know or maybe I’ll be the different one, but I’m super open and love making new friends. I’ve looked at social media and I think I could fit in, but I’m nervous... another thing I wonder is if you let transfers have a spot to stay in house? Because I would really love to still be able to experience that and even participate in recruitment.

you must personally reach out to the chapter yourself. in my sorority, our exec board (and maybe some chapter advisors) will have dinner with you to get to know you a little and that you’re not a standards issue. after that the transfer has a transition period where they get to know the rest of the chapter and if they like it. then the transfer decides if they want to re-affiliate to our chapter. after that they join fams and participate in recruitment and all that :)
