Values-based recruitment?

by:

As I’m going through this site for the first time I’m seeing more and more about a value-based recruitment taking place this year. Can someone elaborate on what exactly that means, and why it’s taking place? Just curious!

Lots of girls in houses recruit based on looks (not all ) And many girls in these houses don’t feel like they are getting the most out of their sisterhood. As this has become more of an issue Pan fells thst their needs to be a change since so many girls feel this way .

IMO Alabama doesn’t really have an issue with houses recruiting on looks (besides an obvious few houses)— it factors in, but some schools MOSTLY recruit based on looks and we definitely don’t do that. Here GPA and involvement are the biggest thing.

Values based recruitment is something that the National Panhellenic Conference started introducing a few years ago, and we are just a little slow on the uptake as usual. Kind of like how we hung onto skit round 10+ years after other schools.

One part of implementing values based recruitment according to NPC is severely cutting rush budgets to eliminate decorations. I wonder if it will ever come to that here. I have met girls in other chapters of my sorority who aren’t even allowed to have chairs during rush. They also have to take down any art and composites, they basically have to strip the house bare.

VBR has been around since 1989, btw. They just keep updating it with new stuff. Eliminating skits/food/PNM gifts was all part of VBR
