Fraternity/sorority rush
by: RrrWhy is sorority rush so complicated and selective compared to fraternity rush?

For sororities, once you have a bid you're pretty much in unless you really mess up. It would look bad and their Nationals wouldn't be happy if they released a bunch of girls before initiation. They have to be selective in who they bid because those women WILL become sisters. In fraternities, a bid means they want to give you a chance, but they will drop people throughout the pledging process if they don't think they're a good fit. Getting a bit to a fraternity is not a guarantee to membership like it is in sororities, and some frats drop a significant portion of their pledges.
